ozone2025gbb

The All O-Zone Girls Basketball team as voted on by the KY3 & OzarksSportsZone.com staff is below. There are more than 100 girls basketball teams in the area, which makes this list extremely difficult to narrow down. We used many factors including opposing coach observations, season stats and staff observations to put together the list you see below.

Below is this year’s team with a first-team, second-team, and honorable mention. Each team is in alphabetical order after the Girls Player of the Year Mikayla Pilley.

FIRST FIVE

Mikayla Pilley, Kickapoo (Player of the Year)

Mikayla Pilley had a habit of stepping up when Kickapoo needed it most this season. She averaged 17.2 points per game on the season, but in Kickapoo’s four wins to qualify for the final four she upped that average to 21 points per game including a 27-point state quarterfinal output against Lee’s Summit West. She closed her career with a 19-point, 11-rebound double-double in Kickapoo’s third-place game victory. She was player of the year in the COC East and Class 6 District 5 along with earning Class 6 all-state honors. She will continue her basketball career at Fort Hays State University.

Hailey Buckman, Logan-Rogersville

Buckman is a rare athlete for Logan-Rogersville earning all-state honors in both basketball and volleyball. She uses that athleticism to make an impact on the basketball court in many ways averaging 19.4 points, 8 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.7 steals per game. She helped lead Logan-Rogersville to a Class 4 third place finish averaging 22.5 points and 12.5 rebounds in two final four games.

Brooke Daniels, or “Alpha” as she is known to her teammates, was just that for Fair Grove on their march to a third consecutive Class 3 state championship. She ran the show for the Lady Eagles on her way to Class 3 Player of the Year honors. In the state title game against Principia, Daniels had her fingerprints all over the 39-33 win with six points, seven assists, 10 rebounds, including a team-high four offensive rebounds, and an incredible nine drawn fouls. Daniels completes her career with three all-state selections on the basketball court.

Few players in the Ozarks can score the basketball line like Garrett. She proved that in a 67-66 loss to Strafford in the Pink & White semifinal round where she put up a tournament-record 49 points. She was a consensus player of the year earning that distinction in conference, district and Class 2. She shot the ball a lot, but was also efficient shooting 53.2% from the field. That shooting percentage was helped by her defense where she had 4.2 steals per game often leading to easy fast break baskets.
