Plato boys basketball is coming off a 17-10 season with a deep and well-rounded team set to take the court.
“Coming into this year, I feel like our biggest strength could very well be our depth and well-roundedness,” Plato head coach Chris Couch said.
Senior Noah Fletcher returns after suffering an ACL injury last season.
“He will really help with our interior presence on both ends of the court, not to mention his leadership and team first attitude,” Couch said.
Ike Eutsler will have a bigger role in his junior season.
“Ike Eustler will return and will see an increase in playing time,” Couch said. “Ike is capable of having some big games for us.”
Sophomores Levi Crewse, Porter McCabe, Will Chatman and Dean Kirk round out the returning players.
Couch on Crewse: “Levi Crewse is another returner and will just about outwork anyone on the floor. His energy will be a huge boost for us.”
Couch on McCabe: “Porter McCabe will return, and he will have a huge impact on the game in a variety of ways due to his well-rounded style and ability score from anywhere.”
Couch on Chatman: “Will Chatman will also see a big increase in minutes as we will rely on him to lead the way with his speed and ball handling.”
Couch on Kirk: “He is another workhorse who will look to improve on the offensive end and be a reliable option for us.”
Couch is focused on overall improvement both for teams and individuals.
“I go into each year looking to improve as a team and each player individually,” Couch said. “One main goal is to play the right way, give it your all and if we do that, then wins will likely follow. If that happens, then I call that a successful season.”
Plato opens the season on Nov. 24 at Couch.
“I am just looking forward to working with the boys and building a brand of basketball that we as a team and school district can be proud of,” Couch said. “We have a group of good kids, and we are a younger group, so we still have a lot to prove. “
