The Mountain Grove boys and girls both claimed SCA team track and field titles at home on Monday, but each squad got it done in a little different manner.

Depth was on display for the boys with 184.5 total points, which was well ahead of runner-up Salem with 117. The Panthers only won five of an available 19 gold medals individually but placed two in the top eight for all but four individual events. Three other individual events saw Mountain Grove with one top eight finisher. The Panthers also scored points in every relay except the 4×400.

Aden Estep (100), Hunter Bartlett (800), Andrew Whitson (discus), Malaki Williams (shot put) and the 4×800 relay team accounted for Mountain Grove’s gold medals.

Salem’s Evan Mendenhall (200, 400) and Ava’s Isaac Smith (1600, 3200) were the only two athletes to win two individual gold medals.

Willow Springs was strong in the relays winning the 4×1, 4×4 and 4×4.
