Hollister uses fourth-quarter comeback to claim Conway Tournament title

Top-seeded Hollister claimed the Conway Tournament championship by coming from behind in the fourth quarter to beat upset-minded Springfield Catholic 43-36.

The Tigers played Catholic even through one quarter at 10-10. In the second quarter, the Irish clamped down defensively to win the frame 11-4 and take a 21-14 lead in to the break. Hollister cut the lead by two points to 33-28.

In the fourth quarter, Hollister’s defense went to work holding Catholic to just three points in the quarter while scoring 15 of its own to take a 43-36 lead.

Tournament MVP Garrett Snyder’s free throw shooting was key for Hollister in the win. Snyder went 13-for-13 from the free throw line in the game on his way to a game-high 17 points. For the game, Hollister was 18-for-23 from the free throw line.

Ethan Wright also was named to the all-tournament team.

Jackson McDaniel led Catholic in scoring with 10 points. He along with teammate Ryan Tauai both earned spots on the all-tournament team.
