Averi Foster, Galena Sophomore
Her freshman year was nothing short of impressive with Foster averaging 12.3 points and 8.1 rebounds, which earned her All-SWCL honors. She’s just 5-foot-5 but her IQ and nose for the ball always seem to put her in the right spot. She’ll see increased touches this winter as well.

Riley Hoppers, Osceola Senior
Hoppers is just 5-foot-6, but she’s a guard that’s relentless in attacking the rim. As a sophomore, she averaged 14.1 points, eight rebounds and 2.8 steals with six double-doubles. She’s an elite offensive rebounder, which typically helps her get going offensively. If she repeats last season’s production, she’ll score her 1,000th point sometime in January.

Jayli Johnson, College Heights Senior
Johnson was an All-Conference selection after emerging as one of the league’s top point guards, averaging 10.7 points, 4.6 assists and 2.7 steals. She’s fantastic at creating offense for herself and others, as well as being a pest defensively.

Lucy Newberry, Marionville Junior
She started the 2022-23 season off with 18 points, five rebounds, four assists and seven steals against Verona, which is basically picking up right where she left off. As a sophomore, she averaged 13.7 points, six rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.6 steals. She has quick hands and is a great off the ball defender, living in passing lanes.

Camryn Parker, Greenwood Junior
Parker emerged as one of the area’s top scorers in Class 2, averaging 14.8 points, 2.8 assists and 1.9 steals. She plays in a player-friendly system under Mike Percival and with Hannah Gibbons moving transferring, Parker will be Greenwood’s primary offensive option which should result in an uptick in production.

Alexis Shelton, Laquey Junior
If you watch Shelton play, you’re guaranteed to see two things; lots of steals and lots of 3s. Shelton averaged 14.4 points as a sophomore, earning All-Frisco League honors but she quickly earned a reputation as a scoring point guard with deep range and quick hands.

Crystal Smith, Jasper Sophomore
Smith isn’t the most skilled player on the list, but she is without question the most athletic and most aggressive. She opened the season with eight steals in a game, including a head-first dive to snag a ball from a dribbling opponent. It’s that blend of athleticism and aggression that made her All-Conference as a freshman and one of the area’s top defenders. She’s also a stud in volleyball and a state champion in the high jump.

Emma Trotter, Fordland Junior
One of the quickest and fastest players in the Ozarks, Trotter often uses her defense to get her offense going. As a sophomore she averaged 12.6 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists, often doing most of her damage in transition. She’s led Fordland in scoring in each of the last two seasons.
