Greenwood girls basketball returns six players who saw action in at least 15 of Greenwood’s 18 varsity games last year.

Leading that group of returning players is sophomore Hannah Gibbons. She was an all-district selection who averaged 18.6 points and 6.4 rebounds per game as a freshman.

Classmate Camryn Parker is the team’s second-leading returning scorer. She averaged 8.9 points and 4.9 rebounds per game as a freshman.

Blair Brown and Rachael Pinegar will be senior leaders for the team. The each played in every varsity game last year. Brown averaged 5.2 points and 3.9 rebounds per game. Pinegar averaged 1.2 points and 2.2 rebounds per game.

Juniors Rilyn Anderson and Tess Fowler round out the returning players. Fowler averaged 3.1 points and 5.4 rebounds per game.

Four newcomers will look to help with depth. Sophomore Abigail Schultz along with freshmen Eva Heideman, Katy Daugherty and Zoe Allie are all candidates to see their first high school minutes.

Greenwood also added junior MaKinley McCall. McCall played for Greenwood as a freshman and averaged 16.7 points per game. She spent last season at Kickapoo.

“We are looking forward to this season and all the possibilities,” Greenwood head coach Mike Percival said. “With the experience of the upperclassmen and the year of experience under the belt of the sophomores, we should be prepared to compete at a higher level. Add into the mix some young players with athleticism and things could be fun.”
