Logan-Rogersville’s run at a historic comeback fell just short in the Class 4 state championship game. The Wildcats, who trailed 9-1 after three innings, fell 9-7 to Chillicothe to finish runner-up in the class.

After Chillicothe built an eight-run lead, Logan-Rogersville refused to go away quietly.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Wildcats got two runs on bases-loaded walks followed by two more on a single and a fielder’s choice.

After a quiet fifth inning, Logan-Rogersville pushed two more across via a fielder’s choice and another bases loaded walk.

The Wildcats put one runner on with two outs bringing the tying run to the plate in the bottom of the seventh, but a groundout on the next batter ended the game.

Logan-Rogersville graduates three seniors in Charles Greer, Andrew Muncy and Brayden Kent.

The Wildcats will look to get back to the final four next season with every player who took an at-bat in the championship game slated to return along with pitchers who threw 13 of the 14 innings in the final four.

Logan-Rogersville finishes the season with a 31-8 record overall.
