Golfers often mark up their ball to find it easier.

“I think she was my biggest supporter. I wanted her to have something and just know that I loved her,” said Lockwood senior Easton Cossins.

Easton writes ‘LC’ – for Lorella Cossins- his great grandma. She came to nearly every tournament, until she couldn’t. Lorella passed right before his junior season.

“It meant a lot to me, just having her there and watching,” Easton said.

That golf season came around and she was still there for every swing, in a different way. It became a special year for Easton.
The Lockwood Tigers took home the Class 1 team title with Easton placing fifth.

“He was getting a little flustered that third hole he was like I need you to calm me down,” said So we talked and he got up on that third hole and he hit a great shot and that was kind of the start of the second day and he turned it around from there. He really pulled through for his team.”

Besides his great grandma and coach who kept him *mooving* there is another factor: cows.

“Standing around cattle, if you get crazy they will start getting crazy…you gotta stay calm in golf, or it will get in your head,” Easton said.

The senior has two cows of his own, but he did not name them. Feeding them is just one check mark off the many tasks he has in a day.

“I work from 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., go to school, I just have two PE classes, then I have some college classes on the side,” Easton said. “I take those at home. After school I have two of my own cows, I feed them, then practice.”

The grind doesn’t end for Easton, who is working toward a top three finish at state – something his biggest supporter would be over the moon for.

“She always wanted to watch me, watch me succeed,” Easton said.
