Hillcrest closed out its season with a win beating Raytown South 57-51 in the Class 5 third place game on Saturday. The Hornets were led by 19 points from Kyrese Simpson who was a perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line. He also had five assists.
Kaivon Alexander scored 15 points in the win. James Collins (11 points) and Jayven Jones (10 points) also scored in double figures. Jones led Hillcrest with nine rebounds and two blocks.
Hillcrest had a big advantage at the free throw line going 14-for-15 while Raytown South was only 2-for-3. The Hornets led for 27:46 of the game.
Hillcrest finishes the season with a record of 22-10.
