Seymour baseball finished just above .500 at 12-11 last season and returns six starters this season.
It is a versatile lineup for head coach Carson Sturdefant.
“Versatility (will be a strength) because our team members have diverse skills and can adapt to different roles and challenges,” Sturdefant said. “This flexibility allows us to handle unexpected situations, support one another when needed, and complete a wide range of tasks.”
The infield will feature Truman Helms (junior catcher), Dakota Sawyers (senior 1B), Reece Hepko (junior 2B), Wyett Bennett (junior SS) and Ian Coots (sophomore 3B). In the outfield, look for Ryan Leonard (sophomore LF), Owen Benson (senior CF), Wyatt Caswell (senior RF) and Konnar Miller (sophomore RF).
Leonard, Sawyers and Helms will be key pitchers.
“I’m looking to my seniors to be the leaders of my young team this year and really motivate our team,” Sturdefant said.
Seymour opens the season Mar. 21-25 at the Purdy Tournament.
“We want to be known as a hardworking, disciplined, and team-first group,” Sturdefant said. “Our identity will be built on effort, accountability, and competing every day. We want to be a team that plays with energy, supports one another, and never backs down from a challenge.”
