Monett girls soccer is looking for faster starts this season coming off a six-win season in 2025.

“We are going to try and play an overwhelming first ten minutes going into the season in shape and ready for lots of movement on and off the ball,” Monett head coach Neal Bluel said.

Six starters return this season.

Seniors Jacelyn Arreola and Lilliana Merida will be at forward. The midfield will feature Yoselin Alberto (junior) and Valeria Hernandez (senior). Sophomore defender Yarielys Cordero is looking for a big year on the backline. McKenzi Waterman (sophomore) returns as the goalkeeper.

“We are always looking to get into better tactically in the game of soccer,” Bluel said. “We are always looking at how to most efficiently work the ball up to the forwards for them to get into scoring position.”

Monett opens the season on Mar. 23 at Neosho.

“We have a tough beginning of the season and look to build off our experiences,” Bluel said. “We have a good Branson tournament right away giving us a good look at lots of different teams we may not normally play.”
