Hurley baseball will have a new look this season with one full-time starter and two part-time starters returning.
“We are a very young team, and we just need to make the routine plays, put the bat on the ball, and throw strikes,” Hurley head coach Joey Little said. “We will have one senior playing and zero juniors. We lost seven players from last year, so we do not have much varsity experience.”
Andrew Escobar (senior), Axel Langley (sophomore), Cooper Wolfe (sophomore), Liam Puryear (freshman), Evan Potter (freshman) and Jaythan Lami (freshman) will all pitch. Lami and Puryear will both see time at catcher.
Danial Keithley is a second senior who is out with an injury.
“We need to improve on defense, hitting, small ball, putting the ball in play, and pitching,” Little said. “That covers almost all of baseball, but we need to improve on them.”
Hurley opens the season on Mar. 19 at Norwood.
“I want our team to get better every practice and every game,” Little said. “By the end of the year, I want us to be able to compete and win games.”
