Skyline closed out its season with a 59-42 win over Lone Jack in the Class 3 third place game on Thursday in Columbia.
Lone Jack led 2-0 to start the game, and that was the last time Skyline trailed in the contest. The Lady Tigers built a lead as large as 24 (48-24) midway through the third quarter. The largest run in the game for Skyline was 14-0.
Shelby Redd led all scorers with 16 points. Jenna Hunt (12), Payton Meade (11) and Sage Redd (10) all finished in double figures for Skyline.
Skyline’s defense was working well with 10 steals and 15 turnovers for Lone Jack. The Lady Tigers scored 19 points off turnovers. Lone Jack had a turnover percentage of 27.8% in the game. Skyline also hit the boards well with 13 offensive rebounds to 7 for Lone Jack.
It is the 18th team trophy in program history. Skyline has won at least one game in 17 of the program’s 18 trips to the final four.
Skyline finishes the season with an overall record of 25-7.
