Willow Springs girls basketball is a district champion for the first time since 1999 after upsetting top-seeded Thayer 66-60 in the Class 3 District 9 championship on Friday night in Houston.
Willow Springs senior Chloe Jones was unstoppable for the Bears scoring 38 points in the game including six three-pointers.

Early on, it looked as if Thayer was going to run away with the game taking an 18-10 lead after one quarter.
From there, Willow Springs chipped away. The Bears outscored Thayer in each of the ensuing quarters. They cut the Thayer lead to 26-22 at the half. In the second half, Willow Springs outscored Thayer 44-34 to pull the upset and give Willow Springs its first district title since 1999.
The Lady Bears face Sparta in the Class 3 sectional round at 6 pm on Monday at Cabool.
