The Walnut Grove girls overcame a third-quarter deficit to come back and beat Ash Grove 44-40 to claim the Morrisville Tournament championship.
Walnut Grove started off slow trailing Ash Grove 11-5 after one quarter. The Lady Tigers were able to outscore Ash Grove 10-4 in the second quarter to tie the game heading into the half.
The third quarter went Ash Grove’s way by two points, 12-10, staking the Lady Pirates to a two-point 27-25 lead.
In the fourth quarter, both offenses got going with Walnut Grove outscoring Ash Grove 19-13 in the frame to claim the tournament title.
Maelie Holman stepped up in the final frame scoring eight of her nine points in the fourth quarter. Sabrian Loehr also did most of her damage in the final eight minutes scoring six of her seven points in the final quarter. Ashtyn Anderson led Walnut Grove with 15 points. The Lady Tigers had seven different players score in the win.
Ash Grove had three players score in the game led by Bristol Lathrop with 16 points and Millison Sapp with 15. Brooke Nicholson contributed 9 points.
