Nevada girls wrestling has 13 total out this season.
The program is coming off a historic season which saw the Lady Tigers win the program’s first conference title.
“We were able to lean on our upperclassmen and their experiences in big competitions and matches to help our younger wrestlers,” Nevada girls head coach Jerrod Alexander said “This year, we are a relatively young team. With only one senior, we are excited to see who is going to step up and step into those leadership roles on our team.”
Drew Leer is the lone senior and lone returning state placer. She was fourth at 235 pounds last season.
“Drew Leer has had a successful career to this point, placing 4th at 235 last season as a junior,” Alexander said. “She provides solid leadership and work ethic to our team.”
Brooklyn Hoag returns for her sophomore season coming off a state qualification at 130 pounds as a freshman.
“Brooklynn Hoag looks to continue her success from her freshman season where she was the 130-pound Big 8 Conference champion and qualified for the state tournament,” Alexander said.
Freshmen Kailey Smith and Haylee Kerbo enter the program with youth experience.
Kailey and Haylee both had successful youth wrestling careers and are looking to make an impact as freshmen in the varsity lineup,” Alexander said.
Juniors Brinklee Janes and Brihanna Moore also return.
Sophomores Makenna Lee, Mary Stone, Dani Wydick and Caitlyn Palmer are looking to take a step forward this season.
Ximena Ramirez (junior), Kenlie Herrell (freshman) and Henley Franklin (freshman) are all first-year wrestlers.
The Nevada girls opens the season on Dec. 4 at Webb City.
