Wheaton boys basketball will have an inexperienced team coming off a three-win season.

“I think we a good group of guys wanting to improve,” Wheaton head coach Sean Crane said. “We have some good athletes they need some experience.”

Junior guard Brody Bateman is one player who does bring experience. He is approaching 1,000 points for his career.

“Brody Bateman is an athletic guard that can score,” Crane said. “He is a key piece of everything we do offensively,”

Fellow junior Mitchell Shockley can play inside of out. Senior Richard Hnin is an athletic forward who is a key defender.

Lal Tha (senior guard), Yeshua Cha (junior guard), Andy Biu (junior guard) and David Cunglianthawng (sophomore guard) all are quick and athletic with two-way potential according to Crane.

Amos Thawngzathang (sophomore forward), Jayson Peterson (junior forward) and Tluang Cung (sophomore guard) are also players to watch on varsity.

“For us to be successful, we will have be very good on the defensive end of  the floor each night,” Crane said. “Experience is going to something that is needed for us this year.”

Wheaton begins the season Nov. 22-26 at the Verona Tip-Off Classic.

“We are working to get things back to level that is expected around here,” Crane said. “That being  said, we are looking to become a team that competes each night.”
