Osceola girls basketball went 19-8 last season, which was the most wins for the program since 2009-10 when the Lady Indians went 24-6 and won the program’s last district title.

This year, six players who played at least 20 games return.

Roslynn Snider is the only senior on the roster this season. She will bring rebounding and defense.

Brynn Belisle (forward), Lindsey Shoemaker (guard) and Bella Hamby (guard) are a junior trio who return. Hamby led the group in scoring 5.2 points per game with 3.2 rebounds and 2.1 assist per game. Shoemaker added 3.2 points and 1.9 rebounds per game. Belisle led the trio by rebounding 4.3 per game with 3.3 points per game.

Sophomores Taryn Wood and Leah Crowder also return after seeing significant varsity time as freshmen. Wood is the team’s leading returning scorer at 7.7 points per game. She also had a team-high 5.1 rebounds per game and 2.6 steals per game last season. Crowder contributed 5.1 points, 3.6 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.2 steals per game.

Osceola has a deep group of freshmen entering the program including Adi Newell (guard), Shaylee Wohlers (guard), Makaylee Wohlers (guard), Kaiya Smith (post) and Calli Hamby (guard).

“Speed and athleticism will be a strength of this team which will allow us to do some great things defensively,” Osceola head coach Kim Wohlers said. “We will have to mesh as a team and figure out what role each player needs to play for the team to be successful. We want to stay positive and focus on the next play.”

Osceola opens the season on Nov. 24 at Stover.

“Our depth will help us,” Wohlers said. “We have a great group of returners who have played a lot of basketball and will be able to lead a strong freshman group of newcomers.”
