Nevada girls basketball posted a winning record for a fourth consecutive season last year with a 16-8 record.

First-team all-conference selection Cora Braden returns for Nevada. As a freshman, Braden averaged 10.2 points per game with a team-high 49 assists in her first season.

“Cora’s work ethic and competitiveness is what sets her apart from others. Cora is very hard working and coachable. She did a great job as a freshman using her athletic abilities,” Nevada head coach Blake Howarth said. “The most improvement I’ve seen from her is her understanding of our system and applying herself to our system. Also, making others around her better.”

The Lady Tigers return a host of other players. Two of those returning players are seniors in Alaina Hardin (guard) and Addi McInroy (forward).

“Alaina brings speed and toughness,” Howarth said. “Addi has a high basketball IQ.”

Juniors Lucy Swearingen (guard), Anna Swarnes (guard) and Halle Hawks (guard) give Nevada three more returning upperclassmen. Swearingen is the leading returning scorer averaging 12.2 points per game.

Joining Braden in the returning sophomore class are Grace Anderson (forward) and Emrey Williams (forward). Anderson scored 7.1 points per game with a team-high 166 total rebounds.

Junior forward Iliana Pavon is a newcomer who brings size and toughness at forward.

Nevada opens the season on Nov. 25 at home against Lebanon.
