Christian County rivals Nixa and Ozark met in Nixa for the postseason version of the Backyard Brawl on Friday. Like the regular season edition, Nixa came out on top this time by a 42-6 margin.
Ozark got the first score of the game on a Peyton Russell 20-yard touchdown run to take a 6-0 lead at the 5:58 mark of the first quarter.
From there, it was all Nixa.
Randy Flint answered back for Nixa 32 seconds later with a 38-yard touchdown run to give Nixa a 7-6 lead.
Jayden McCaster hit on touchdown runs of 58 and 16 yards in the second quarter extending Nixa’s lead to 21-6 at the half.

Out of the break, Adam McKnight hit Flint for a 14-yard touchdown putting Nixa up 28-6 with 8:57 left in the third quarter. McCaster added his third touchdown run, this time from five yards out, with 4:38 left in the third quarter.
Nixa capped off the scoring with a 67-yard touchdown run from McKnight with 6:59 left in the game.
The Eagles rushed 307 yards as a team with McCaster accounting for 182 of those yards on 18 carries. McKnight had two carries for 78 yards and threw for 42 yards on three completions.
Russell led Ozark with 16 carries for 147 yards and a touchdown.
Nixa hosts Joplin in the Class 6 District Championship game at 7 pm on Friday, Nov. 14.
