In the final week of the regular season, Stockton running back Logan Reser tied the school’s all-time single-game touchdown record with six. He also broke the all-time single-game rushing yardage record with 399. But why couldn’t he get that one yard he needed for the nice round 400?

“Well, I know, that’s what I tell myself,” said Logan, a senior on the team, with a laugh. “I’m like, ‘Gosh dangit,’ I wish I could get that one extra yard and say 400. But I can’t.”

But 399 is a cool number. “It’s unique,” he added.

Unique is something Logan knows plenty about. This year, his 28 touchdowns and 2,351 yards rushing is also the most in school history. That rushing total ranks 24th all-time in the state of Missouri, and the season isn’t even over yet.

“I think one of the things that really make him special is all the intangibles,” said Luke Rader, Stockton’s head coach. “He’s truly happy when his teammates have success. That’s been a huge part for us team-wise for the rest of those kids to follow that and see that.”

As one of just three seniors it’s something you can hear when he talks about the underclassmen on the team. “I know I’m getting the recognition for it,” Logan said. “But it takes 11 guys on the field.”

Specifically, the offensive line. They’re the big guys who pave the way for all those big statistics. “I try to lead ’em and get them in the weight room and get them doing the right things, and they’ve really stepped up compared to last year,” Logan said. “I’m really proud of those guys. I couldn’t have done it without them.”

In the team’s first round playoff victory they had to do it without him. After he took a vicious hit from an El Dorado Springs defender.

“I think it was first possession of the second half,” Rader said. “And when he couldn’t play the second half we were pretty worried. But we’re hopeful he’ll be back this Friday night ready to go.”

Logan says, there’s no need to be hopeful.

“I took a little hit,” Logan said. “But I should be good. I’m not too worried about it. I’m not going to be 100%, but I’ll pretty dang close where I can play the way I normally do.”

Having any percentage of Logan means these Tigers always have a chance.
