El Dorado Springs hosted the Class 2 District 3 cross country meet on Saturday. See which athletes and teams are heading to state below.
BOYS RACE
Hollister senior Sinry Mendoza is looking to make the most out of his lone cross country season. On Saturday, he earned his first individual district title running a 15:37.18 taking the title over Springfield Catholic’s Kyle Hathcock who ran 16:24.57 to finish runner-up. Cinch Dowling from Fair Grove was third in a time of 17:08.49. Marcus Johnson gave Springfield Catholic two top-four finishers running 17:09.31 to finish fourth.
Hathcock and Johnson’s low finishes helped the Irish win the team championship with a 63-point output to beat runner-up Osage with 79.

GIRLS RACE
Fair Grove junior Katrina Cantwell, who is a two-time top 10 finisher in Class 3, won the Class 3 District 2 individual title with a 19:14.70. Houston’s Lyla Huffman was runner-up with a 19:29.40.
Springfield Catholic’s Emma Belk ran 20:23.20 to place third. The top five was rounded out by Fair Grove’s Keira Marion-Swan (20:29.52) in fourth and Aurora’s Drew Mayes (20:42.58) in fifth.
Osage won the team competition with 52 points. Houston was second with 86 followed by Springfield Catholic in third with 89 and Fair Grove in fourth with 92.
