Class 4 District 3 Golf Recap

The Class 4 District 3 golf tournament at Bill & Payne Golf Course in Springfield featured a battle between two of the state’s top golfers in multi-time state champion Page Bowman from Glendale and record-setting Josey Roberts from Ozark.

The duo set the stage for a showdown at the Class 4 state tournament by tying for first place with each shooting 70.

The Par 3 17 was the turning point in the matchup between the two. Bowman, a Mizzou commit, entered the penultimate hole down two strokes to Roberts, a Missouri State commit. Bowman was able to birdie the hole while Roberts posted a bogey. The duo each carded par on the Par 5 18th to tie.

On the day, Bowman had seven birdies, four bogeys and one double bogey. Roberts posted four birdies and three bogeys.

The team competition saw Raymore-Peculiar place first with Springfield Catholic second to claim the team qualifying spots.

Ava Tiedemann (3rd – 73) and Grace Tiedemann (6th – 75) led Springfield Catholic. Sarah Han (16th – 86), Brinley Scott (22nd – 87) and Olivia Tiedemann (27th – 90) rounded out the state-qualifying team for the Irish.

Glendale’s Aedin Lackey (7th – 79), Carthage’s Addie Foust (7th – 79) and Joplin’s Scarlett Satterlee (9th – 81) were the other area players to finish in the top 10 and qualify for state.

Kickapoo’s Annaston Angus (16th – 86) and Republic’s Jenna Smith (16th – 86) also qualified for state.

The Class 4 state golf tournament will take place in Sedalia at the Sedalia Country Club Oct. 20 and 21.
