Two-time defending Class 1 state champion Rylee Allred got her title defense off to a good start with a three-stroke win at the Class 1 District 1 golf tournament in Mountain Grove.
The Ash Grove junior shot a 39 on the front nine and 38 on the back nine with two total birdies on the day.
School of the Ozarks sophomore Laylah Bates, the state runner-up last season, placed third with an 81. Liberty’s Kameryn Wood, who tied with Allred for the state title two years ago, was fourth with an 82.
Bakersfield’s Massey Hayes rounded out the local players in the top five with an 88.
El Dorado Springs took the top team spot with a 399, which was 69 strokes clear of runner-up Adrian. Tilar Witt (7th – 94), Gabby Boch (8th – 97), Sage McCullough (11th – 103) and Skylen Gibbs (13th – 105) were the scorers for El Dorado Springs. Kyndal Swopes (25th – 120) was the No. 5 golfer for El Dorado Springs.
Seymour’s Gentry Denney (6th – 93) and Ash Grove’s Collins Rust (10th – 102) were the other local players in the top 10.
Purdy’s Andelynn Vineyard (11th – 103) and Gaberila Groomer (13th – 105), Marionville’s Lincoln Mais (16th – 109) and Mansfield’s Mylee Sullivan (18th – 113) also qualified for state.
The Class 1 state golf tournament will take place Oct. 20-21 in Fulton at Tanglewood Golf Course.
