Hollister distance runner Sinry Mendoza announced his commitment to Oklahoma State University on his Instagram on Friday.
In the post he said: “First and foremost I would like to thank my lord and savior Jesus Christ. NONE of these things could’ve been accomplish without him. My family for sacrificing everything and bringing me to this country for a better life and for the opportunity to thrive in this country and support me in those dark and cloudy days. I would also like to thank all of my coaches and close friends for believing in me.

Mendoza is the two-time defending Class 3 state champion in the 3200-meter run. He has three total gold medals on the track and six all-state finishes. He is in his first season of running cross country at the high school level.
