Bolivar doubles partners Kami and Jill bring two different styles to the court, yet those differences create a pretty unstoppable pair.
Senior Kami Bryan covers the court with ease.
“She’s agile, she’s long, she’s got good range,” said Bolivar Girls Tennis Coach Nathan Rothdiener. “She can get to any ball and she’s just such a smart player.”
Junior Jill Horner has a killer swing.
“Jill comes with a little power,” Rothdiener said. “She’s got a little pop in her serve, so when that serve is on and Kami is at the net, it’s a little 1, 2, punch.”
The Bolivar duo is in their third season as doubles partners and coming off a third place finish at state.
“It didn’t honestly feel real,” Horner said. “It just felt like another Cooper tennis tournament that we are just going out there and having fun.”
“It definitely shows we had a good chance last year honestly,” Bryan said. “We played the team that got first and we played pretty well against them. Even looking at this season I’m like we have a good chance.”
The girls already won over 10 matches this season and have taken away the first place title at multiple tournaments.
“They’re starting to pick up that chemistry right where they left off,” Rothdiener said. “Now we are just building that momentum hopefully toward the end and maybe make another push at the state title.”
Their swing and style might not be the same… but there’s a time in the match where they are right on sync.
“After points a lot, we hit racquets and then we high five,”
When these two Liberators come together… they form a perfect match. >
