Conway volleyball is set to take a step forward in 2025 with an experienced roster returning from last season’s nine-win team.
“After being a young team the past two years, our juniors and seniors now have valuable varsity experience under their belts,” Conway head coach Graysen Patten said. “This experience has helped them build confidence and develop a strong understanding of the game at this level. We believe all that growth and maturity will come together this season, making our team more cohesive, confident, and competitive than ever before.”
The returning seniors are Karli Miller, Brooke Potteiger and Katen Wilson.
Miller is an outside hitter.
“Karli is a powerful presence behind the serving line and brings a strong, aggressive attack to the net,” Patten said. “She’s a reliable go-to player in high-pressure situations.”
Potteiger brings versatility and is a right side.
“Brooke is a dependable hitter who adds depth to our offense with her versatility and variety of serves,” Patten said. “Her experience and calm presence under pressure help balance the court, and she consistently delivers smart, well-placed attacks.”
Wilson is an effective communicator also on the right side.
“Katen is known for her intelligent attacking from the right side and her ability to communicate effectively, especially when setting up blocks,” Patten said. “She brings composure and a strategic mindset to the floor, helping solidify our front-row defense.”
The junior quartet of Arianna Hughes (setter), Adalee Letterman (outside hitter/setter), Alayna Richardson (utility) and Madison Thompson (middle hitter) also return.
Patten on Hughes: “Arianna runs the floor with quickness and poise. Her growing game knowledge and sharp decision-making are coming together in a big way this season. Though small in stature, she’s a major contributor on both offense and defense, bringing a powerful serve and strong passing game to every match.”
Patten on Letterman: “Transitioning into a dual role this year, Adalee offers excellent court awareness, tough defense, and relentless intensity. Her high volleyball IQ and offseason dedication have made her a reliable leader on the court. She’s involved in nearly every play and helps keep the team focused and competitive. With three years of varsity experience, her consistency and leadership make her a cornerstone of our offense.”
Patten on Richardson: “Alayna has experience in almost every position, making her a vital, flexible asset. She consistently makes plays happen and improves the ball every time she touches it. Her wide range of serves poses a significant threat to opponents, and her adaptability makes her invaluable.”
Patten on Thompson: “Madison’s leadership and presence at the net are huge assets to our team. She has worked hard in the offseason, and it shows in her stronger attacks and expanded offensive options. Her blocking game and vocal leadership bring energy and accountability to the team.”
Sophomore Gracie Emmons rounds out the returning players.
“Gracie is a hustler who has built strong defensive chemistry with her teammates,” Patten said. “Her work ethic, relentless effort, and determination to improve make her a key part of our back row. She plays with heart and brings a dependable presence to the defensive unit.”
Austyn Damy will be a newcomer to varsity in her sophomore season.
“Austyn made a strong impression this offseason and has proven she’s ready to earn varsity minutes in the middle position,” Patten said. “She’s a fast learner with a high volleyball IQ, and her ability to read the floor creates excellent offensive opportunities for both herself and her teammates. Her quick development and coachability make her an exciting new addition to our varsity roster.”
Patten is looking for her team to remain consistent throughout each match.
“Our biggest area for improvement is maintaining consistent energy,” Patten said. “In the past, we’ve let the ups and downs of the game affect our attitudes, and that has sometimes held us back. This year, we’re focused on staying positive and energized throughout every play, no matter the score or situation.”
Conway opens the season on Sept. 2 at home against Mountain Grove.
“Our goal this year is to finish strong,” Patten said. “Like I said above, we’ve sometimes let the ups and downs of the game affect us, but with our growing confidence and experience, we’re determined to push through every challenge. We plan to fight for every point with intensity and resilience, competing hard until the very end of each game.”
