Chemistry will be a strength for Central volleyball coming off a four-win season.
“This team has a close bond which is special,” Central head coach April Stapp said. “They worked so hard together last yar and this year’s bond may be even stronger on and off the court.”
Zella Gosnell (senior middle), Sophia Stratton (senior outside), LG Satterwhite (senior DS) and Annalise Freeman (senior DS) return.
Stapp on Gosnell: “Is a big presence at our net. She is quick and versatile. When we need to make something happen, I can always count on her to get the job done.”
Stapp on Stratton: “Is our constant. She keeps our team connected and is great at keeping a level head no matter what we are facing during play. She brings consistency every time she is in the court.”
Stapp on Satterwhite: “Brings a big part of our defense. She can play any of my backrow positions no matter where I need her. She is quick and adjusts seamlessly in a pinch for us.”
Stapp on Freeman: “I’m excited to see her this season. Last year, she really took her role and ran with it. She is so fast and reads well. She is a hustler.”
Taniya Fewell, Emma Gugliotta and Sydnee Durbin are all seniors who will contribute on varsity.
“They all can step into different roles all over the court when we need to mix things up,” Stapp said.
Central hosts a jamboree on Aug. 27 with Lebanon, Strafford and Neosho before opening the regular season on Sept. 2 at home against Reeds Spring.
“Our expectation is to continue to grow every time we touch the court,” Stapp said. “We are stronger coming into this summer workouts than we were the previous year, so it’s really allowed us to dig into the small parts of our game to pull out some more wins.”
