Former Missouri State pitcher Brandt Thompson showed why he deserved the call-up to Double-A in his debut with the Springfield Cardinals on Wednesday night.
The two-time All-MVC first team pitcher was lights out for the SpringCards against the San Antonio Missions. Brandt threw six innings of scoreless ball while allowing just three hits and striking out four.
The Minnesota native has an ERA of 3.80 over 19 appearances across three minor league levels.
Brandt is expected to make his home debut back at Hammons Field next weekend against the Wichita Wind Surge.
