The state golf tournaments wrapped up across the state on Tuesday. The area brought home one champion with Lockwood winning the Class 1 team title.
CLASS 5
Nixa led the area’s teams in the team competition with a sixth place finish and a two-day total of 594. Individually, Noah Naugle led the area and Nixa with a seventh place finish. He came out on fire on day two following his opening round 72 with a 67.
Aydan Willoughby (19th – 146), Peyton Burbridge (57th – 154), William Johnson (66th – 158) and Noah Schiman (72nd – 159) rounded out Nixa’s team.
Kickapoo placed eighth as a team with a two-day total of 602. Owen Jump was the top Chief with a two-day 147 good for 25th overall. Brady Powers (28th – 148), Nickolys Thompson (53rd – 153), Lincoln Swann (57th – 154) and Ethan Bartels (72nd – 159) rounded out Kickapoo’s finishers.
Glendale’s Owen Buerke and Lebanon’s Benjamin Haney shot matching 145s to tie for 15th. It was also a Lebanon-Glendale tie for 19th with Hudson Feuerbacher and Ethan Mustard both shooting 146. Republic’s Cason Bekemeier tied for 25th with a 147 to round out the area’s top 25 finishers in the class.
CLASS 4
Carl Junction brought home a team trophy in Class 4 with a third-place finish. The Bulldogs shot a 620 led by Jack Spencer’s 147, which was good for fifth place overall. He was followed closely by teammate Logan Lowry’s 151 good for eighth place. Cohen Elick (32nd – 161), Austin Baker (51st – 167) and Brock Spencer (59th – 169).
Monett’s Jaxon Bailey tied with Spencer for fifth place.
West Plains senior Aaron Stevenson placed 11th with a 153 to lead West Plains to a sixth-place finish as a team. Ashby Wood (36th – 163), Samuel Gohn (41st – 164) and John Sutherland (67th – 171) also competed for the Zizzers.
Camdenton freshman Crue Michel rounded out the area’s top 25 finishers with a 20th place finish with a 157.
CLASS 3
Logan-Rogersville has a pair of Top 10 finishers on the way to a sixth-place finish as a team at the Class 3 state tournament. The Wildcats shot a 640. Tyler Davis and Benjamin Roche shot matching 151s to tie for ninth place and lead the Wildcats. Bryce Shoults (36th – 163), Kaden Coon (75th – 175) and Eli Craft (91st – 191) rounded out the team for Logan-Rogersville.
Nevada’s Mason Roberts shot a 159 to place 23rd and lead the Tigers to an eighth place finish as a team. Payton Talley (47th – 167), Isaac Irwin (56th – 169) and Peyton Wyant (86th – 180) also competed for Nevada.
Mt. Vernon’s Karter Clark placed 19th with a 155.
CLASS 2
Springfield Catholic was paced by freshman Harper Elliott (13th – 163) and sophomore Gavin Walker (19th – 167) on the way to a third place finish as a team in Class 2 with a total of 677. Jacody Westhoff (35th – 172), Caden Hillwick (45th – 175) and Benjamin Mulherin (11th – 194) rounded out Catholic’s state team.
Blayne Altermatt carded a two-day total of 167 to place 19th overall for a Willow Springs team that placed fifth overall with a 690. Brady Altermatt (30th – 170), Marc Prough (43rd – 174), Braiden Moran (62nd – 181) and Holt McGinnis (73rd – 189) also competed for Willow Springs.
Cole Camp’s Spencer Godwin led the area with a fourth-place finish total of 156. Ava’s Brayden Loftin (8th – 159), Stockton’s Owen Garver (19th – 167), Cabool’s Bennet Montgomery (19th – 167) and El Dorado Springs’s Kason Roe (25th – 168) also placed in the top 25.
CLASS 1
Lockwood had a huge second day to come from behind to win the Class 1 team title. The Tigers sat seven strokes back of Eugene, 331-338, after the first day. On the second day, Lockwood improved by nine strokes with a 333 to take the team title with a two-stroke win.
Kolton Kleeman (4th – 159) and Easton Cossins (5th – 160) paced the Tigers. Lucas Eggerman stepped up in a big way on Day 2. After shooting a 90 on Day 1, Eggerman bounced back with a Day 2 82 to placed 23rd overall with a 172. Talan Richter (50th – 180) and Owen Patterson (65th – 187) rounded out Lockwood’s state championship team.
New Heights Christian Academy placed sixth as a team with a 719. The team included Hudson Clevenger (27th – 173), Logan Decker (41st – 177), Nixa Maningas (62nd – 185), Corbin Cronenwett (65th – 187) and Gavin Doll (69th – 188).
Ash Grove’s Easton Rust was the area’s top finisher in second place with a 157. Thomas Jefferson’s Jack Twiss (8th – 163), Ash Grove’s Brock Long (14th – 166), Gloria Deo’s Trenton King (15th – 167), Hartville’s Jace Hughes (20th – 169) and Bakersfield’s Chad Carey, Jr. (23rd – 172) also placed in the top 25 in the area.
