Don’t look now, but Canyon Crowley is starting to peak just in time for another state competition.
On Saturday, the Fair Grove senior captured district titles in the 100 (10.87), 200 (21.55) and 400 meter (49.60) races.
He secured yet another first-place finish as the anchor leg on the Eagles’ 4×100 relay team with teammates Kellen Lair, Addrick Wilson and Carson Trussell.
Crowley has finished in the top five the past two seasons in the 200- and 400-meter events and is not only seeking that elusive first state title, he’s adding another event to the mix in the 100.

Following his 100 victory, Crowley was pleased with his time – a 10.87 personal best – and knew he was on pace thanks to a teammate’s performance.
“it’s going super good,” Crowley said of the district meet. “It’s been a dream of mine to hit 10.8,, and I’m just super happy about that. My buddy, Kellen Lair, he’s got like a bullet start. And when I saw that I was with him, I knew it was going to be a pretty good time just staying with him.”
When asked about the secret to his multi-event success, Crowley was quick to praise mental focus techniques, along with recovery-based tapering for the postseason stretch.
“Mentally, I just try to tell myself I can do it,” Crowley said. “I just try to tell myself I’m not tired, necessarily. Try to make it seem like I’m not doing this much, but yeah, physically, I’m just trying to really recover and practice. And Coach has us doing a whole bunch of recovery days and stuff and trying to get us back back in the loop of things.”
