We are a week away from district softball tournaments starting, so it is time to take a look around at the area’s top teams. Below is a look at all of the area’s teams mentioned in the most recent state rankings as released by the Softball Coaches Association.

CLASS 2

Let me start by saying, southwest Missouri is absolutely loaded in Class 2. Of the 17 teams mentioned in the latest rankings, 12 of them are area squads. There is a real path to the area sending three teams to the final four in this class.

We will start with Warsaw, which was tied for first with Skyline in the latest poll. The Lady Wildcats have won 15 straight since losing to Bentonville (Ark.) to start the season. That includes wins over fellow No. 1 Skyline, No. 3 Diamond, No. 4 Mt. Vernon, No. 10 El Dorado Springs and RV East Newton.

Brewster has given up just eight runs sporting an ERA of .709. The Missouri State signee has just one more walk (6) than she does no-hitters (5). At the plate, Brewster has a .488 batting average.
