The quarterfinal round of the Class 4 District 11 tournament was SCA against Mid-Lakes for both matchups. It was all SCA with Ava and Mountain Grove coming away with wins.
No. 4 Ava took the first game 59-39 over Reeds Spring. The game was tied after one quarter at 8-8. The Wolves won each successive quarter from that point on to secure the 20-point win.
Isaac Dalton and Payton Merriett led the charge for Ava with 16 points each. Talon Harville scored 11 in the win.
Reeds Spring was led by Jayden Turner and Brody Pettigrew with 11 points each.
The Bears advance to face top seed, and host, Logan-Rogersville in the semifinal round on Wednesday at 6 pm.
No. 3 seed Mountain Grove had to hold off a late charge from No. 6 Hollister to win 73-67. The Panthers built a 34-22 lead at the half and a 54-40 lead after three quarters. In the fourth quarter, Hollister outscored Mountain Grove 27-19 to cut into the Panther lead before time ran out.
The Hollister comeback was spurred on by Caleb Donathan’s 22 second-half points after scoring just three points in the first half. He finished with a game-high 25 points.
Mountain Grove was led by 21 points from Kale Gardner and 18 points from Aden Estep. Elijah Golden also scored in double figures for Mountain Grove with 11.
The Panthers advance to face No. 2 seed Forsyth at 7:30 pm on Wednesday in the semifinal round.
