Springfield Catholic girls golf qualifies for seventh consecutive state tournament

The Springfield Catholic girls golf team is making a seventh straight trip to the state tournament as a team after finishing runner-up at the Class 4 District 3 tournament a Schifferdecker Golf Course in Joplin on Monday.

The Fightin’ Irish shot a 329 to finish five strokes behind Raymore-Peculiar for the team championship. Ava Tiedemann won the individual title for Catholic with a one-over 72. She carded three bogeys and two birdies with both coming on the front nine.

Grace Tiedemann finished third overall for Catholic with a  75. Sarah Han (10th – 87) and Sydney Walker (22nd – 95) rounded out the scoring for the Irish. Chloe Calvert was the fifth golfer for Catholic.

Carthage’s Addie Foust (5th – 80), Ozark’s Josey Roberts (6th – 81) and Kickapoo’s Sarah Trotman (9th – 86) were the individual qualifiers for the area.

The Class 4 state golf tournament will take place Oct. 21-22 at Dalhousie Golf Club in Cape Girardeau.
