Chadwick boys, El Dorado Springs girls win Stockton Tournament titles

The Chadwick boys started fast and never looked back on the way to a 59-37 win over El Dorado Springs in the Stockton tournament championship game.

Chadwick jumped out to a 22-8 lead after one quarter and increased that lead for each of the next two quarters on the way to the 22-point victory.

Clayton Garrison scored 20 points to lead Chadwick. Tristan Smith (13 points) and Preston Kinyon (11 points) also scored in double figures for Chadwick.

Landon Murry led all scorers with 21 points for El Dorado Springs.

In the girls championship, El Dorado Springs used a dominant middle two quarters to beat Chadwick 48-46.

Chadwick, ranked No. 4 in Class 1, carried a 13-9 lead after one quarter. El Dorado Springs, ranked No. 1 in Class 3, responded by outscoring Chadwick 30-12 over the next two quarters to carry a 39-25 lead into the final frame.

In the fourth quarter, Chadwick proved it was far from done. Kerrigan Guerin scored 13 of her game-high 18 points in the final quarter to lead Chadwick’s charge back. The Lady Cardinals outscored El Dorado Springs 21-9 in the deciding quarter but came up two points short of completing the full comeback.

El Dorado Springs used a balanced attack in the win with seven different players scoring led by McKinli Mays with 13 points.
