The Class 1-2 state track meet wrapped up on Saturday with the area claiming seven more gold medals, one team championship and 82 total all-state honors.

CLASS 1

The Hermitage boys came into the Class 1 state track meet with team title aspirations. That goal was realized on the final race of the day.

Hermitage entered the final race, the 1600-meter relay, trailing Hayti by two points. The Hornets entered the event as the No. 3 seed one spot ahead of Hayti. Hermitage improved one spot to second with Hayti finishing third to earn a tie for the Class 1 team championship. Justus Yates held off Hayti’s anchor Quintrel Clay to give Hermitage the victory, as the Hornets ran a time of 3:34.09 just ahead of Hayti’s 3:34.31.

The Hornets kicked off the day easily winning the 3200-meter relay in a time of 8:07.82. Justin Horn (third in the 3200-meter run), Bennett Mantooth (fifth in the 300-meter hurdles) and DeJuan Chambers (seventh in the 400-meter dash) also scored points for Hermitage on Friday.

Autumn and Cade Nold helped Dora sweep the 400-meter dash titles. Autumn won her title in a time of 57.97. Cade added to his 800-meter dash gold with a winning time of 49.63 in the 400-meter dash. Autumn also placed in the 800-meter run (second) and the 200-meter dash (seventh).

Richland’s Breah Morris added two more golds to go with her long jump title from yesterday by winning the 100 and 200-meter dashes in times of 12.94 and 26.73.
