Emily Snyder takes over as head coach of the Southwest softball program this spring. She inherits a team returning seven starters from last season’s 10-10 team.

Seniors Anna Church (catcher), Ali Shurm (second base), Alli Fosse (pitcher/shortstop) and Jordyn Martin (third base) will lead the team.

Fosse will share pitching duties with sophomore Riley Flippo. Flippo will also play shortstop.

Sophomore Kaliegh Tull rounds out the infield alignment at first base.

The outfield will feature Haven Jarmen (senior), Addison Keates (sophomore), Raeli Miles (sophomore), Becca Swanepoel (sophomore) and Addison Cotton (sophomore).

“Our team dynamic will develop throughout the year. I predict these girls will only show up with great attitudes and ready to work hard to get better in the game,” Snyder said. “A major goal for our team is for the girls to learn more, grow more, and deepen their love of the game throughout the season.”

Southwest opens the season Mar. 17-18 at the Verona Tournament.

“My overall expectation for the season is to grow as a team, as people and especially in the game of softball,” Snyder said.
