2023 Spring Preview: Aurora Girls Soccer

Aurora returns 11 players from last season’s team looking to improve on a 1-15 record.

Senior Leslin Perez is expected to have a big role in leadership of Aurora girls soccer playing midfield and wing. Damari Vallenciaud is a sophomore defender who brings a big personality on and off the field. Marisol Castillo is a consistent player who missed some of last season with an ACL injury, but she is back healthy this year. Junior goalkeeper Jacey Lee is a fourth player who will be a leader for Aurora.

Junior Kelsey Veirs and freshman Andrea Nungoray will be key players at forward.

Nadia Davis (sophomore) will join Vallenciaud at defender.

Head coach Shawn Pennell expects his team to be a hardworking group with good team speed.

“We are a very young team and players that have been with this team for the last two years have learned so much,” Pennell said. “I cannot wait for years to come with current and upcoming players.”

Aurora opens the season Mar. 17-18 at the Cassville/Monett Tournament.
