Wright’s historic night helps Greenfield advance to district title game

Greenfield’s Marlie Wright had a game she won’t soon forget in a 69-40 win for the Wildcats over Dadeville in the Class 1 District 4 semifinals.

Wright scored 31 points while pulling down nine rebounds handing out nine assists and tallying four steals. The 31-point output etched Wright’s name in the Greenfield record book. She scored her 1,695th career point to break the old record held by Caitlin Shouse since 2006.

Greenfield built up a 41-12 lead at the half on the way to the victory.

Tatum Torres scored 18 points to give Greenfield two players in double figures.

Dadeville was led by Libby Lakey (15 points) and Chloe Cornelison (13 points).

Greenfield will face 13-time defending district champion Walnut Grove in the Class 1 District 4 championship game at 7 pm on Saturday at SBU. Walnut Grove beat Greenfield 48-39 on Dec. 8, which was one of only five losses on the season for Greenfield.
