No. 3 seed Southwest had its hands full with No. 6 seed, and host, Diamond in the Class 3 District 12 quarterfinals. The Trojans trailed early before coming on in the second quarter on the way to a 62-45 win.
The Trojans trailed 14-8 after one quarter. Southwest’s defense got things going in the second quarter holding Diamond to just three points while scoring 11 to turn a six-point deficit after one quarter into a two-point lead at half.
Southwest continued to expand the lead from there on the way to a 17-point win.

Lucas Paulsen scored 18 points to lead Southwest. Jesse Holder (15 points) and Brendyn Paulsen (10 points) also scored in double figures for Southwest.
Ty McDermott led Diamond with 16 points.
Southwest advances to face No. 2 seed Lamar in the Class 3 District 12 semifinals on Wednesday at 7:30 pm.
