Chadwick beats host Seymour to win Seymour Bank Winter Classic

Chadwick turned in a strong defensive performance in the second and third quarters to take down host Seymour 46-41 in the championship game of the Seymour Bank Winter Classic.

The game was tied 10-10 after the first quarter. In the second quarter, Chadwick outscored Seymour 8-5 to take a three-point lead into the break. Clayton Garrison kept Chadwick afloat offensively in the first half scoring 10 of his game-high 21 points in the first half.

Chadwick gained real separation in the third quarter by scoring 13 points to Seymour’s three to take a 31-18 lead into the final frame. The Seymour offense came alive in the fourth quarter with 23 points, but it would not be enough to complete the comeback.

Mason Rogers scored 11 points for Chadwick to also finish in double figures.

Eli Nunnally (13 points) and Chade Noble (10 points) led Seymour offensively.

THIRD PLACE: Eminence 77, Bakersfield 76

Eminence and Bakersfield faced off in a back-and-forth third place game of the Seymour Bank Winter Classic with Eminence coming out on top 77-76.

The teams were tied at 16 after one quarter with Bakersfield taking a two-point lead at 36-24 into the break. Eminence left the third quarter with a one-point advantage that would prove to be the winning margin.

Drew Foster and Hayden Barrett carried Eminence in each half. Foster scored 19 of his team-high 28 points in the second half. Barrett scored 12 of his 15 points in the first half. Foster was strong from the free throw line going eight-for-eight in the game. Carter Blackburn also scored in double figures for Eminence with 10 points.

Ethan Cotter led Bakersfield and all scorers with 34 points in the game. That included knocking down five 3-pointers. Morris Collins (13 points) and Mason Bean (12 points) also scored in double figures for Bakersfield.
