Lady Bears Picked Sixth in MVC Preseason Poll

ST. LOUIS – Missouri State women’s basketball has been picked to finish sixth in the Missouri Valley Conference following the annual survey of the MVC’s coaches, communications personnel and media, the league announced today.

This marks the eighth consecutive season that the Lady Bears have been picked to finish in the top half of The Valley. Missouri State was also one of five schools to receive a first-place vote.

New MVC member Belmont is this year’s preseason favorite to win the league, followed by Illinois State, Drake, Murray State and UNI to round out the top five.

MSU went 25-8 overall last season and finished second in The Valley with a 14-4 ledger, as the Lady Bears made their 17th NCAA Tournament appearance and collected a First Four round win over Florida State. Missouri State welcomes seven newcomers to this year’s squad that features one returning starter for new head coach Beth Cunningham.

Missouri State women’s basketball tips off the 2022-23 regular season at 6 p.m. on Monday, November 7 against Missouri at Great Southern Bank Arena.
