Exeter volleyball won five matches last year. The Tigers are poised for even more wins this year with three seniors along with several other players with varsity experience returning.

The three seniors Exeter head coach Stephanie Crumpler will look to for leadership are: Emma Sorensen (setter), Jasmine Hall and Madison Crumpler.

Coach Crumpler on Sorensen: “She has played varsity for the past four years. She is my team leader. Emma is an exceptional player. “

Coach Crumper on Hall: “Jasmine stepped up her game last year. She dedicated more time to the gym and it really paid off. Her serving and her hitting improved tremendously and I expect to see great things out of her this year.”

Coach Crumpler on Madison Crumpler: “Madison has been working on her hitting. She is a lefty so we’ve been working on getting her comfortable hitting from any position making it unpredictable for our opponent.”

Junior Natalie Cumpler and sophomore Dawnee Sorensen will be playing in the middle. Natalie Crumpler made the all-district team last year. Sorensen brings height and power.

Sophomores Abby Lemons, Adalyn Yang, Karlee Willis, Trinity Atikison and Hallie Woods will all be competing for varsity time along with some freshmen.

“Our biggest strength this year in our team is teamwork. This group of girls works well together, they communicate well and are all willing to help each other and learn,” Coach Crumpler said. “We need to improve on our defense. Being in the correct spots, getting digs, making plays, hustling, and not giving up on plays.”

Exeter opens the season on Aug. 27 at the Verona Tournament.
