Crocker soccer returns six starters from last year’s team that posted an 8-6 record.

The junior class will be looked to for leadership according to head coach Ryan Marshall.

“I have a core group of now juniors that all look to be tremendous leaders this upcoming season,” Marshall said. “It is hard to individualize them because that group has come up together through the recreation leagues and then for the last couple years. I expect great things from the group as well as the freshmen core coming in. They have really taken ownership throughout conditioning.”

That junior class includes forwards Seth Strutton and Sean Faulkner along with defenders Noah Jones and Jeffrey Danielson and goalkeeper Paten Ament. The midfielders will feature sophomore Landon Pierce and senior James Mullihan. Sophomore Anthony Green will be a defender.

The freshman class will also have some contributors.

“I have to say the freshmen for what I have seen show maturity,” Marshall said. “They are eager to show up for practice, and I have appreciated the work they have put in.”

Replacing the offense of four graduated seniors will be key for Crocker.

“I lost four seniors upfront that flowed well together,” Marshall said. “They took leadership and put their skills on display. They put in a lot of goals for us so replacing that with new players at those positions will be the upfront challenge.”

Crocker opens the season on Sept. 1 at home against Marshfield.

“(We want to) win districts and really continue to make a name for the program with the bigger schools,” Marshall said. “We didn’t get a full boys season last year with COVID protocols so we are excited to hopefully go through the season and play all of the scheduled games.”
