Aurora has a new head coach in Shawn Pennell. He takes over an Aurora soccer program coming off a two win season. Seven starters return this year, but the Houn Dawgs graduated their only two all-conference honorees.

The remaining players will be ready to run, as Pennell cited conditioning as a strength for this team.

Up top at forward, look for Kaden Clark, Larson Briggs and Conner Bull.

The midfield will feature Armando Alvarez and Kristopher Bradbury. Briggs could also see time in the midfield.

Darian Dummit and Evan Boettler will be defenders. Boettler has impressed Pennell in the early going.

“Evan Boettler is a freshman it will be amazing to see how he changes over his time in high school,” Pennell said.

Isaac Abney and Yajaris Guzman are both in the mix to be goalkeepers.

Aurora will travel to McDonald County for a jamboree before opening the regular season Aug. 30 through Sept. 3 at the Cassville Tournament.

“(We expect) to grow as a team to better the underclassmen that will come after basically to build a program one year at a time,” Pennell said.
