Bolivar, Mo- The SBU Men’s Basketball team played host to the #1 team in the Midwest Region of Truman State Bulldogs this evening. The Bearcats rolled right past them winning 82-67, getting their first win over the Bulldogs since joining the GLVC. The Bearcats move to 20-5 (14-4 GLVC) for their first 20-win season since 2009-10 season.

“Our guys did a good job of having pretty good focus. I was proud of our response in the second half when Truman had all the momentum and our guys responded with a key run and good defensive stops. That’s a really quality win, thankful for a great atmosphere and our fans. It’s a great day to be a Bearcat!” -Head Coach Clark Sheehy

Jalil Beaubrun returned with style tonight, after missing four games due to an injury, by scoring a career-high of 20 points. He went 7-10 (70%) from the field and 2-3 (60%) from beyond the arc. He also tagged along a team-high 7 rebounds. Quinn Nelson wasn’t far behind adding 18 points to the Bearcats total where he went 4-8 (50%) from the 3-point range. RJ Crawford and Joe Miller each reached double digits with 11 and 10 points respectively. Drew McMillin came off the bench scoring 12 points shooting 71% from the field.

Currently, the Bearcats are tied with Truman for 2nd in the GLVC PRS standings. Lewis University sits just ahead of the Bulldogs and Bearcats with .02 points more than them. With one game remaining for each of the teams, here are the three most likely scenarios:

  1. All three teams win (SBU, Lewis, and Truman) = SBU places 3rd
  2. Truman loses, SBU and Lewis wins = SBU places 2nd
  3. Lewis loses, SBU wins (Truman wins or loses) = SBU places 1st

Truman will travel to Rockhurst. Lewis will travel to Missouri S&T. SBU will play host to Quincy University. All games will take place this Saturday February 26th with a scheduled tip-off of 3:00 PM.
