Lady Panthers Back Up To Fourth In Latest Poll

SPRINGFIELD, Mo.— The Drury Lady Panthers jumped five spots in this week’s NCAA-II coaches’ poll and are ranked fourth in the nation. Last week, Drury was ninth but won two games last week, including a 77-58 win over 25th ranked Southern Indiana and a 111-55 victory over McKendree. The Lady Panthers are 24-3 and 14-2 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

Glenville State, at 22-0, is the only undefeated team in Division II and is ranked number one. Ashland (22-1) is ranked second, and Grand Valley State (21-1) moved up to third in this week’s poll.

The Midwest Region features three teams ranked in the top five as Ashland, Grand Valley State, and the Lady Panthers are ranked 2-3-4 this week.

The GLVC has one other team ranked in the top 25 as Missouri-St. Louis (19-2) is ranked 18th in this week’s poll.

This week’s poll marks the 131st consecutive week the Lady Panthers have been ranked in the top 25, the longest streak in the nation. It is also their 69th straight week in the top 10.

Drury is on the road for two games this week as the Lady Panthers travel to Lewis on Thursday for a 5:30 pm game, and then to Indianapolis for a noon (Central) tipoff on Saturday. The Lady Panthers have two home games remaining on their schedule. Drury will host Quincy on Thur., Feb. 24, and Illinois Springfield on Feb. 26 for Senior Day at the O’.
