SBU Tops Rival Drury 70-61

Bolivar, Mo- The SBU Men’s Basketball team took on their rival the Drury Panthers for the first time this season and the first time since the Panthers beat them in the conference tournament last March. While shorthanded, missing two of their top players, the Bearcats were able to get their revenge winning by a final score of 70-61. SBU has now won 4 out of the last 5 matchups against Drury. That win moves the Bearcats to 14-4 on the season and 8-3 in conference play.

“We were trying to talk about getting good focus and getting ready. Last years group played really really hard and had a special year, but this year’s group is playing really hard, and we have a chance to have another special year” said Head Coach Clark Sheehy.

As mentioned, the Bearcats shot 50% from the field but went 6-9 from three in the first half. In that half, four different Bearcats hit a 3 pointer, including RJ Crawford who had three. He also led the team in scoring with 18 points going 6-13 (46%) from the field. Quinn Nelson had another good all-around game scoring 17 points tagging along 7 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks.

The Bearcats have a couple of days off then travel to Lebanon, Ill to take on McKendree University this Thursday February 3rd. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
