Dadeville boys basketball has posted back-to-back winning seasons, and the Bearcats are expecting to make that three in a row with a talented core of players returning from last season’s 16-10 team.

“We are a veteran group that is coming off back-to-back conference runner-up finishes and a 16-win season,” Dadeville head coach Curtis Collins said. “(We) return three of our top four scorers from last season and are poised to take another step forward this year.”

Two of Dadeville’s key returning players are junior Luke Bushey and senior Bailey McGill. Bushey averaged 13 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists per game last year while shooting 41% from three. McGill averaged 11 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists and shot 48% from 3-point range last year.

“Luke is a 6’4 point guard that has been top two in scoring for our team for the past two seasons. With the ball in his hands more we are expecting him to have a huge year,” Collins said. “Bailey led us in scoring two seasons ago and is capable of doing that again this season if need be. He is an incredible defensive wing that was third on our team in scoring last year.”

Sophomore Aidan Jarman made an immediate impact as a freshman averaging 7 points, 2 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.3 steals per game.

“Aidan has grown a lot since last season in which he shot 40% from deep and averaged 7 points per game off the bench,” Collins said. “He is ready to really step up his production as a starter.”

Senior Jacob King and junior Caden Farmer also return for Dadeville.

“Jake and Caden both bring us veteran leadership and abilities on the court,” Collins said. “Jake anchors our play in the middle while Caden locks up opposing guards and spreads the floor for us on offense.”

Freshman Kaleb Getman is expected to make an immediate varsity impact at guard.

Dadeville opens the regular season on Nov. 19 at Lockwood.

“We expect to challenge for our district this year as well as improving on our 16 win total from last season,” Collins said.
