Franklin earns Valley Player of the Week honors

ST. LOUIS – Missouri State Lady Bear senior Jasmine Franklin earned Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week honors following her opening week performances against Little Rock and North Texas, the league announced today.

Franklin is averaging a double-double following two Missouri State victories to begin the season with 15.5 points, 14 rebounds and also 3 blocks per game. In the season opener at Little Rock, Franklin posted 18 points and 13 rebounds on 7-of-8 (.875) shooting from the field, while tying her career high with 4 blocks against the Trojans.

In Sunday’s home opener, the senior posted her 27th career double-double with 13 points and 15 rebounds against North Texas. She leads the Lady Bears this season with a 61 shooting percentage from the floor, and with her performance against the Mean Green, Franklin surpassed 800 career rebounds and moved into the second spot on Missouri State’s career blocks list, owning 110 blocks in her Lady Bear career.

This marks the fifth conference player of the week honor in Franklin’s career.

The Lady Bears will return to the court at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 17 with a trip to Oklahoma State to face the Cowgirls.
